![]() Actually, even the power steering systems get a changeout when I do the transmission.Īll in all, cheap insurance. I also do the transmission fluid changeout on the same interval as the diffs. For cars that are NA I figure 40k with synthetic is more than reasonable and exactly what I do with the diffs on my AWD Lincolns since both are NA engines. ![]() With it being a smaller diff with a decent amount of power behind it 25k-30k would be my choice. I just figured after 500-1000 miles, change the fluid to a quality synthetic, with the proper weight for the usage (gear oils and their applications are still pretty standard fare) and then in about 3000 more miles do another swap out to new synthetic and you are done for 30k-40k miles. Yeah, I mean I am used to high performance stuff, but even without when the Cadillac dealer replaced my rear diff, I was sent on my way without any sort of discussion on followup maintenance or anything else.Īs an engineer/mechanic and builder myself that is amazingly wrong on many levels.
